What are the Different Types of Liposuction?
Published on March 28, 2016 by Basil Pakeman
New York City liposuction surgeon Dr. Basil Pakeman offers a range of techniques, better enabling him to meet the diverse needs of all of our patients. The best way to learn which of these techniques is ideal for your needs is through a one-on-one consultation at our comfortable Manhattan office.
Liposuction Options
Types of liposuction offered by Dr. Pakeman include:
- Tumescent liposuction – this liposuction option uses tumescent fluids to help break up fat deposits prior to removal. Tumescent fluids also contain anesthetic, eliminating the need for general anesthesia during the procedure.
- Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL) – PAL uses a vibrating cannula to break apart fat deposits for easier removal. Tumescent fluids are often used in conjunction with PAL for optimal patient comfort.
- VASER lipo™ – Vaser lipo uses ultrasound to liquefy fat cells prior to removal. This helps ensure a more thorough removal of all stubborn fat deposits.
- SmartLipo™ – SmartLipo emulsifies fat with laser energy for more complete removal. Laser energy may also help stimulate skin firming, making it good for areas with both excess skin and fat.
There are a number of liposuction options available at our New York City office, but no single option will be right for every patient. If you are interested in learning which of these techniques will be best for your specific concerns, please contact Manhattan Surgical Care to schedule your liposuction consultation with Dr. Pakeman today.
