Facial Scar Revision Conveniently located to serve New York City

If you feel self-conscious about facial scarring due to injury or surgery, facial scar revision may be right for you. Scar tissue develops in response to the healing of a wound, but some scars can be unsightly and draw unwanted attention. If you have one or more scars on your face that you would like to reduce or eliminate, a scar revision procedure may be the right way to reduce the appearance of the scar. To learn more about our New York scar revision treatments and cosmetic surgery options, please call Manhattan Surgical Care at 212-308-1566.

The human body creates scar tissue as a perfectly normal part of the natural wound healing process. Some scars are minute and virtually unnoticeable, but others can be quite large and obvious to others when your wear certain clothes. Scars that are noticeably raised or recessed, especially large, of a different color than the surrounding skin, or indiscreetly located can affect your self-confidence and make you feel self-conscious.

The specific revision procedure used depends on the type, size and location of your scar, but at Manhattan Surgical Care, we can tell you whether you are a good candidate for scar revision surgery, which may involve laser resurfacing, steroid injections into the scar, or surgical excision techniques. In most cases, scar revision cannot eliminate the scar. Scars are permanent. But our revision techniques can lighten the color of scars and shrink them in some cases, making the scars much less noticeable.

Almost anyone who desires scar revision can do so. We'll first determine the type of scar and then tell you which treatments may be an option. The ideal candidate should have realistic expectations of what revision can achieve.

Many of our past patients have discovered that facial scar revision offers an excellent way to restore your confidence by improving the appearance of your skin.

We will provide you with aftercare instructions after your revision treatment. There may be things you can do – such as protecting the area from sun exposure – to get optimal results from your treatment.

If you are unhappy with the appearance of scars on your face and want to know more about our and New York scar revision procedures, please contact Manhattan Surgical Care to schedule a consultation with Basil Pakeman, MD, FRCS.
