Long Island WaveFront LASIK
Most Long Island residents have heard of LASIK vision-correction surgery, but aren't sure what WaveFront LASIK means. This type of LASIK eye surgery uses a WaveFront analyzer to bounce waves of light off of your cornea and pinpoint the distortions caused by vision issues like myopia (nearsightedness). Then, a small instrument, called a microkeratome, is used to cut a flap on the surface of the cornea. Through this flap, the work will be done to correct any vision issues. The 3-D image created by the WaveFront analyzer allows eye surgeons to accurately correct only the areas that are affected, leaving the rest of the cornea intact. By gently reshaping the cornea, a surgeon can restore your vision to 20/20 or higher. The entire process takes less than an hour, as a rule. Long Island WaveFront LASIK Pre-ScreeningDuring your initial pre-screening exam with our surgeon at Manhattan Surgical Eye Care, you can expect to undergo: - A dilated exam to check for ocular irregularities on the cornea
- A measurement of your refractive error
- A measurement of your pupil and corneal thickness
- A corneal topography-map generation
- A tear-function analysis and examination
- A medical-history review for eye diseases, heart conditions, and blood conditions contradictive to WaveFront LASIK
WaveFront LASIK treats both higher and lower-order aberrations with ease. Even if you aren't sure you qualify for LASIK, we invite you to set up a meeting. Our professional staff will treat you with courtesy, and our doctor can recommend a strategic approach to your vision needs.
