Long Island LASIK Eye Surgery
Long Island residents preparing for LASIK eye surgery have to follow strict rules in the weeks leading up to the procedure. Here at Manhattan Surgical Eye Care, we encourage our Long Island patients to adhere to these rules closely in order to get the best results. When you have your initial consultation with us, our surgeon will review these steps with you as well. In the weeks prior to your LASIK eye surgery, you can prepare at home in Long Island by not wearing your contact lenses. This will help reduce irritation in your eyes. Also, contact lenses can affect the curvature of your cornea. So, resting your eyes for a few weeks will return the cornea to its natural shape. Soft contact lenses should not be worn for two weeks, gas-permeable lenses should not be worn for three weeks, and hard contact lenses should be avoided for four weeks before LASIK eye surgery. Prepare for LASIK Eye Surgery from Long IslandThe day before you have your surgery, stop applying makeup, lotion, perfume, or cream to your face. Just avoiding the eye area is often not effective enough. You should also wash out your eyes thoroughly with water the night before surgery. The day of your surgery, we recommend you eat a light meal and take your regular prescriptions as normal. Again, you should not wear any makeup or facial lotion and should avoid wearing jewelry or hair accessories also. If you are feeling a lot of anxiety, we can administer some medication to help you feel more comfortable during the procedure. To get started, call us to schedule your appointment today.
