Tumescent Liposuction

Serving Manhattan and the surrounding area of New York City (NYC).Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic procedure that is performed today. For the reason, the results tend to be excellent with immediate improvement in body contour and size, and the results continue to improve with time. Liposuction is an excellent means to address stubborn area of fat deposits that are not responding to diet and exercise. Liposuction has undergone much advancement including the introduction of the tumescent technique, SmartLipo (laser liposuction), and Power liposuction (Power Assisted Liposuction). These advancements allow liposuction to be done as an out-patient procedure with local anesthesia, and they also permit for easier removal of fat with a more pleasing contour. Liposuction is also known as "lipoplasty" or "suction lipectomy.

Tumescent Liposuction is a procedure that can helps to sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat, body liposuction and facial liposuction, with dilute solution of lidocaine and epiphrine, local anesthesia. The most common areas for Tumescent Liposuction including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks, neck, and male chest (gyncomastia).The tumescent technique allows more precise results and quicker recovery times. Liposuction is a not substitute for dieting and exercise, but can remove stubborn areas of fat which is responding to traditional weight-loss methods.

Your Surgery

The area to be treated is photographed and marked, and this is followed by oral sedation. The area is cleaned with a sterile antiseptic solution. Next, small pinholes (adits) are made in the skin through which tumescent anesthesia solution is infiltrated into the areas. The tumescent fluid is next allowed to settle awhile and then the liposuction is begun. The entire procedure usually takes about1- 3 hours depending amount of fat to be removed. Following body lipo or facial lipo specific compression garments are applied to the treated area, and should wear for several days or weeks. The garments help the skin during the healing process to conform to the new reduced body contours, and they provide comfort and support.

The Best Candidates for Liposuction

The best candidates for Tumescent Liposuction are individual within 30 % of their normal body-weight with good skin elasticity who have pockets of excess fat in certain areas. It is important to be in good physical and psychological health with realistic expectations. Age is not a major consideration; however, older patients may have diminished skin elasticity and may not achieve the same results as a younger patient. Liposuction carries greater risk for individuals with medical problems such as diabetes, significant heart or lung disease, and poor blood circulation. Special considerations may be necessary for individuals with diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease or previous surgery to the treatment area.

Treatment Options

Tumescent in lipo sculpting allows for the uses of many different modalities for lipo body sculpting, as stand alone or a combination treatment. It can be used with Smatlipo, Cool lipo, Prolipo, or Power lipo. Tumescent solution made laser lipo or laser liposuction a painless procedure.

Risk

Although Tumescent Liposuction is considered safe, it is a surgical procedure, and rare complications may include infection, skin irregularity lidocaine toxicity and nerve damage. Typically, patients should expect some bruising and swelling immediately after surgery which will disappear.

After Your Surgery

After liposuction, you will likely experience some fluid drainage from the incisions. You may feel a little sore, and some swelling and bruising is expected which commonly peaks at three to four days and disappears within three to four weeks.

Getting Back To Normal

Depending on the areas treated, you may be able to return to work the next day, although some patients wait two to three days to rest before returning to work. It is important to begin normal activity as soon as possible.

Results

The fulfillment that you feel from the initial results of liposurgery should continue as long as you maintain your weight with a healthy lifestyle. This means eating well and regular physical activity. Results will be visible almost immediately after surgery, but the full effect may not be evident for four to six weeks after most of the swelling has subsided. Patients are very pleased with the results; in many cases the new body contour has a positive effect on self-image and self-esteem.
