Longer, Thicker Eyelashes with Latisse
Originally developed to treat glaucoma, doctors observed that the active ingredient in Latisse stimulated eyelash growth in many of their glaucoma patients. Latisse is a skin care treatment that naturally stimulates eyelash growth and reduces your need for eyelash extensions and daily application of mascara.
Latisse is applied to the base of the upper lashes with a special applicator. Typically patients apply it daily for at least two months. Contact lens wearers need to remove their lenses before application, but the lenses can be reinserted about fifteen minutes after application. And Latisse is only applied to the upper eyelid.
Studies show that patients who use Latisse regularly and as instructed have an increase in:
- Eyelash length
- Eyelash thickness
- Eyelash darkness
It may take up to four months to achieve the full effect, but many of our patients at Manhattan Surgical Care notice dramatic improvement in the look and feel of their eyelashes in as few as six weeks.
The most common side effects of Latisse are itching and redness of the eyes, but even these are infrequent and appear in less than four percent of patients. Less common side effects include changes in the pigment of the iris and eyelids.
Is Latisse right for Me?
If you suffer from insufficient growth of the eyelashes, chances are you are a good candidate. If you do choose to use Latisse, you should know that the effect will fade as soon as you stop using it. The only way to maintain the results is to continue using it.
This non-surgical, non-invasive beauty treatment is right for many people, but the only way to know if it is right for you is to visit Dr. Basil Pakeman. During your consultation, he will evaluate your eyelashes and help you decide if this treatment is the best option for your beauty goals.
